Brave Search AI is the AI layer of Brave Search, an independent search engine built on its own index. It adds AI Answers that summarize responses with cited sources, Ask Brave for longer chat-style follow-ups and a Deep Research mode for thorough investigations, plus AI-generated featured snippets and result descriptions. Users can also refine results with search operators, Bangs, Goggles and Discussions. Brave Search is ad-supported by default, with an optional ad-free Search Premium subscription, and the AI features are built in-house using open-source LLMs and Brave's own technology.
