AI Coding Assistant

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Kiro is an agentic AI development environment built by a team within AWS for professional developers and software teams. It turns prompts into executable specs that define requirements, system design, and tasks before code is written, validates code correctness to catch bugs unit tests miss, and coordinates parallel agents across large codebases. One unified agent harness powers the IDE, CLI, web interface, mobile app, and Kiro Crew, so specs, steering files, and configuration carry across surfaces. Kiro supports many languages, imports VS Code settings and Open VSX plugins, and connects to GitHub and GitLab repositories. A perpetual Free tier with 50 credits is available, alongside paid per-user plans from Pro to Power and enterprise options.
Download the installer for your operating system from the downloads page, or sign in at app.kiro.dev to use Kiro Web or mobile with a paid account. Log in with GitHub, Google, AWS Builder ID, or AWS IAM Identity Center; no AWS account is required.
Describe what you want to build. Kiro can turn the prompt into structured requirements, design, and tasks before writing code, documenting the reasoning and implementation decisions along the way.
Use Kiro's correctness validation to find bugs that unit tests may miss, then review and iterate on the generated changes.
Use the IDE for local development, the CLI for terminal workflows and pipelines, and Kiro Web for cloud sessions in isolated sandboxes that keep running when you close your laptop.
Turning a feature idea into a documented spec and implemented code
Catching bugs that unit tests miss through correctness validation
Coordinating parallel agents across a large codebase
Delegating coding tasks to cloud sessions that run while away from the laptop
Automating background work such as documentation updates and test generation
Terminal-based and CI/CD development workflows via the CLI

Specs keep the speed of vibe coding but define requirements, system design, and tasks before code is written. This documents the reasoning and implementation decisions so Kiro can handle more complex tasks in fewer attempts.
No. You can log in with GitHub, Google, AWS Builder ID, or AWS IAM Identity Center without an AWS account.
A perpetual Free tier includes 50 credits. Paid per-user tiers are Pro at $20/month, Pro+ at $40/month, Pro Max at $100/month, and Power at $200/month, each with a larger monthly credit allowance and access to premium models.
A credit is a unit of work in response to your prompts. Simple prompts can cost less than 1 credit, while complex spec tasks typically cost more, and different models consume credits at different rates.
Yes. On Pro, Pro+, Pro Max, and Power you can purchase add-on credits at $0.04 each, billed immediately when you buy a pack. Unused add-on credits roll over and expire 12 months from purchase.
Kiro subscriptions work with Kiro IDE, Kiro CLI, Kiro Web, Kiro Crew, ACP-compatible IDEs, and automation in software development such as CI/CD reviews. Routing requests through third-party automation harnesses outside Kiro's native interfaces is not permitted.
Yes. Kiro is based on Code OSS, so you can import VS Code settings, themes, and Open VSX compatible plugins during onboarding.
